26-year-old techie working from home raped by 10 men in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa – The New Indian Express
CHAIBASA: A 26-year-old software engineer was allegedly raped by about 10 men in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, police said on Saturday.
The woman, who is here as she works from home, was riding a two-wheeler with her boyfriend Thursday night when the incident happened near the old airfield in Chaibasa, they said.
A group of eight to 10 men stopped the couple, beat up the boyfriend and allegedly raped the woman after taking her to a secluded location, police said.
Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said a case has been registered at Muffasil Police Station and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the incident.
The woman works for a well-known IT company, the police said. After raping her, the accused abandoned her and fled. They also took away her wallet and cell phone.
The woman somehow managed to get home and told her family about the incident, after which they filed a complaint with the police. Her medical examination was conducted at Sadar Hospital.
